What a wonderful last day in parkadise! The morning was cold and rainy
outside, but inside the Mammoth Grill was warm and welcoming. There were
several Loons waiting to have lunch together, and we were eager to see all
of them. King of the Loons, John, was very careful to wander around taking
pictures of his own so he wouldn't get caught while I was taking pictures,
and I missed him. We'll getcha next time, John!
(updated) Of course we ordered the Kiddie
cheeseburger meal for ourselves. Gotta have that Tootsie Roll pop! Bruce got
a red one, and I got an orange one. YUM! We gave the crayons to Kassia's two
little girls.
Lew and Deb
Lew was cutting up and pretending to take my picture. Silly boy!

We took one more cruise through the park before we have to
leave tomorrow and found two grizzlies at Sedge bay, as well as the marmots
still running around looking cute. It was 36 degrees, and the wind was
blowing the snow sideways, so we didn't get out of the truck to check them
out!Look at the chunks of snow pushed aside. They look like
giant marshmallows!

A swan was swimming all alone in the Yellowstone river.
That's the first one we had seen this trip. What was strange to us was the
lack of coyotes. We only saw that one earlier in the week. Hmmmm...
Thought this kind of told the story of the park this trip ...
snow, thawing, rain, snow, wind, thawing, more snow and closed roads.
What a wacky weather week! Pouring rain to dumping snow to bright sunshine
all in the same day, day after day and always wind or calm. Sheesh! Hope we
never have another week like this when we visit again.

Coming out of the park, we were mesmerized by seven little
Bighorn lambs playing on the side of the hill at the Sheep Management area.
See that tree with the two peeking out? That's their favorite toy. They run
up and down and round and round, but then they wind up back at that tree and
jump and kick over the roots, through that hole, chase each other and
practice domination techniques. Hysterical! It was pouring rain at the time,
and that made for a mucked up lens.

Here are all seven of them. See the two on the bottom
running? All of them went hell bent for election constantly! We sat and
watched them for a long time and were totally entertained.

We left the park for the last time this year, sad to be leaving but looking
forward to continuing our trip. Yellowstone holds a very special place in our
hearts.
