Monday - March 14
We went to Apache Junction with Howard & Lynn to the
Arizona Opry's Rock &
Roll show. Whatta show! We had a great lunch, loads of entertainment, swayed
and sang to our favorite oldies, and worked off the calories by doing the
Twist at the end. Fun time! We'll definitely go back for a different show
next year. The Opry is also opening a venue in Estes Park, Colorado.
What an awesome venue!
We were escorted to our table where a delicious piece of chocolate cake
was waiting for us. YUM!

I was fascinated by all the instruments!

We had no idea what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised!

Wonder how much money they have tied up in equipment?! Holy cow!

Talk about oldies but goodies! None of these guys are young, but boy can
they rock!

They really got into the tunes!

And seemed to be enjoying every minute and each other! See the lady in
the back on the drums? That's Brenda, one of the owners, and you should hear
her pound on those drums. She did a solo to Green Onions that would knock a
lot of guys off their seat! Brenda was breathing hard when she was done,
too, after that workout.

I wonder how many different kinds of guitars these guys can play.
Whatever it is, they're good on every one of them!

George Staerkel is the Music Director for the Opry and has been since
2000. "From 1980 - 1985 he was lead singer and keyboardist with The Tokens,
a New York based pop group with 12 gold records to their credit but who are
mostly remembered for their recording of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight.'" So, of
course, they played this song, and the audience got into the groove with it.

Exellent performance! Don't miss it if you're in the Phoenix or Estes
Park area.
